Volunteer Position: Communications Coordinator

The Jacob Ross Clemens Foundation (JRCF) is seeking a Volunteer Communications Coordinator to help support our initiatives. The JRCF is a registered charity that is all about carrying out Jacob’s epic legacy of environmental sustainability and human well-being. Jacob treated people and the environment right; carrying a large burden of responsibility on his shoulders. The Foundation carries that same responsibility as we plant trees, provide scholarships, send kids to camp, and treat people and the environment with respect in our daily lives.

The Role:

The Volunteer Communications Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and executing website content and social media posts and campaigns. The primary focus is on community management, engagement and editorial for friends of the Foundation including donors and potential donors. The ability to take knowledge and transform it into exciting and useful messages and disseminate it to the right audiences through the best distribution channels is critical.

Key Responsibilities:

✓ Take direction from the Board regarding current priorities

✓ Create annual communications plan for review by the Board, in line with goals of the Foundation

✓ Create and maintain content calendars, including writing content for the website, facebook status updates, instagram posts, etc.

✓ Lead the generation of online content in accordance with content calendar, that engages audience segments and leads to measurable action

✓ Review user generated comments and posts in a timely manner

✓ Respond to comments, when appropriate to foster a positive community and add value to the user’s experience

✓ Support the creation of the Annual Report as well as donor communications

to align with overall communication schedule

✓ Collaborate with the Volunteer Project Coordinator and Board

The ideal candidate has:

✓ Excellent command of (written) English, including strong and creative copywriting and editing skills

✓ Advanced knowledge of social media platforms

✓ Strong skills in website content and technical management

✓ Knowledge of digital media software

✓ Willingness and ability to create content regularly

✓ A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently

✓ Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives

✓ Willing to work outside normal business hours (including weeknights and weekends)

✓ Able to work from home

✓ Has current smartphone/device

✓ Has access to a reliable wi-fi network

✓ Knowledge of environment, mental health, and/or sustainability is an asset

Job Type: Part-time (2-3 hours per week)
